Following complaints from Nigerians abroad over difficulties in obtaining the National Identification Number (NIN), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the completion of a major upgrade to its diaspora enrolment platform to ensure effective service delivery.
In a statement signed on Monday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, the commission said the upgrade would provide “a seamless, robust, more secure, efficient and effective NIN service delivery to Nigerians in the diaspora.”
Onboarding and training
Following the upgrade, NIMC said it had commenced the onboarding of its Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) and conducted intensive training to equip them with the technical knowledge needed to operate and manage the new system.
The commission directed all diaspora FEPs to obtain and activate their NIN enrolment licences on the upgraded platform within the next 48 hours, after which diaspora applicants can access enrolment services from the compliant FEPs.
Support for applicants
While apologising for any inconvenience caused during the upgrade, NIMC announced the establishment of a dedicated service team to resolve all diaspora enrolment issues.
“Diaspora applicants experiencing issues with NIN enrolment should please reach the Commission via nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng for timely resolution,” the commission said.
The commission also stressed that NIN enrolment continues at all centres across Nigeria, and that applicants can locate the nearest centre via its website, www.nimc.gov.ng.
“Nigerians at home or abroad can modify their NIN data using the commission’s self-service portal at https://selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng. Additionally, NIN holders are encouraged to download the NIMC NINAuth App on either iOS or Googe Play Store to instantly verify their NINs, control access to their personal information, and enjoy seamless verification and authentication services,” the statement reads.
