The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded in the fire that engulfed part of Ago Medical Centre in Okota, Lagos on Friday.
The fire, which broke out around 8:30 p.m, destroyed a section of the one storey building housing the centre.
During the fire outbreak, nurses, doctors, and patients in the hospital scampered for safety.
Permanent Secretary of the agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated on Saturday that preliminary investigations by the Eagle Response Team indicated the fire was caused by a power surge when public electricity was restored.
Oke-Osanyintolu added that the fire was contained through the combined efforts of the LASEMA response team fire unit and other emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos Neighbourhood and Security Corps, and the Nigeria Police Force, among others.
