The Editor-in-Chief of DevReporting, Mojeed Alabi, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Mirror Newspaper Excellence Award for “Heroes of Our Time,” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to development journalism and public interest advocacy in Nigeria.
The honour, awarded by the newspaper’s editorial board alongside independent assessors, acknowledges individuals whose work is making a measurable impact on national conversations and societal development.
Since DevReporting started it operation in 2025, Mr Alabi has steered the platform toward impactful journalism that goes beyond routine reporting to focus on critical development issues often overlooked in mainstream coverage. According to the organisers, DevReporting has helped bring attention to pressing challenges affecting citizens, while contributing to policy debates.
The organisers added that the award is designed to celebrate professionals whose work demonstrates excellence and contributes meaningfully to national progress. The presentation ceremony is set for 23 April, during the Mirror Newspaper National Conference and Awards at the LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre in Lagos.
The gathering is expected to attract key figures from different sectors, providing a platform to recognise excellence and contributions to development.
About Mojeed Alabi
Mr Alabi is an experienced journalist with a demonstrated history of excellent delivery skilled in investigative reporting, news sourcing, and building brands. He is a media and communication professional with a BA in English from Obafemi Awolowo University and Masters in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies (MDSS) from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
He is a two-time recipient of the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting, among other awards. Before the launch of DevReporting, Mr Alabi worked as the pioneer head of Development Desk at PREMIUM TIMES and currently serve as Uptake Officer for Lagos at the African Cities Research Consortium.
